Introduction
The water crisis is affecting approximately 1 billion people around the world from Malaysia to Africa. Countries such as Somalia and Ethiopia are heavily affected by this crisis and most children die from dehydration or water-based diseases. The problem is that these people don’t have clean water to directly drink from their villages, instead women and children take almost a third of their day gathering water from far away ponds or streams. They may also gather their drinking water from wells but all these waters are exposed to many different components
The Dangers of A water crisis
The areas that African women and children gather the water from are exposed making them very unclean. Because their drinking water is very unclean, Africans may receive water based diseases such as malaria. These diseases may cause many different symptoms and may even cause death. 1.2 million Africans had died in 2010 alone because of malaria and more than a third of them were middle-aged adults, which shows that the average lifespan could be decreasing. When no or little clean water is available for drinking, Africans become dehydrated, which could cause death. What also may occur is conflict between two different areas over whatever clean water there is.
How people can prevent this crisis?
What is obviously needed is more clean drinking water for the countries in the horn of Africa. People can help by:
Millions of people are suffering but there is still hope. Only we can help them
- Donating 20$ to give them a water pump for clean drinking water
- Getting involved by entering community & service projects such as ROTA
- Donating even more money for a more complex, energy efficient water-filtering system such as condensing humid air.
Millions of people are suffering but there is still hope. Only we can help them
